Your report helps improve awareness, verify impacts, and support timely public messaging. If you’re reporting an emergency or someone is in danger, call 911 first.

Best reports include 3 things
Where it happened • When it happened • What you observed. If there’s damage, include a brief description and photo/video link if safe.
Precise location
Nearest address/intersection + city/state.
Accurate time
Approximate time observed (local time).
Clear details
What you saw/heard + impact (hail size, trees down, etc.).
What to Report

Useful reports we can act on

Pick the closest category in the form. If you’re unsure, describe what you observed.

Tornado / Funnel Cloud
Rotation, funnel, debris, confirmed touchdown.
  • Where (nearest address/intersection)
  • When (time observed)
  • Damage? Trees down? Structures impacted?
Wind Damage
Trees down, power lines, roof damage, widespread impacts.
  • Extent: single tree vs. widespread
  • Power outages? Lines down?
  • Photo/video link (only if safe)
Hail
Hail size and duration help verify severity.
  • Size (coin comparison works)
  • Duration + intensity
  • Any damage to vehicles/roof/crops?
Flooding
Roads underwater, rapid rises, water rescues.
  • Road name / crossing / landmark
  • Depth estimate if known (don’t enter water)
  • Any trapped vehicles or blocked routes?
Lightning / Fire
Strikes causing outages, fires, or injuries.
  • Exact location + time
  • Visible fire/smoke?
  • Call 911 for active fires/emergencies

If it’s urgent, report what you see—fast.

  • Photo/video link if safe

Quick tips
  • Be specific: “Tree down blocking Hwy 82 near X” beats “bad storm.”
  • Time matters: estimate the time you observed it (local time).
  • Don’t risk it: never stop in traffic lanes or approach downed lines.
  • Photos: upload (if enabled) or paste a link (Drive/Dropbox/Imgur).
